Granita to the Rescue

Puree your favorite fruit together or boil it on top of the stove with some wine and a bit of sugar as needed -not all fruit was born equally sweet. Put it in the freezer and  scrape it with a fork every hour or so until it’s frozen. It’s perfectly refreshing, especially after a heavy meal, and goes nice with a chocolate dessert.  Don’t get me wrong, I am a lover of baked sweets of any sort from the finest fare to good old bread pudding –with vanilla sauce and a generous helping of whipped cream, but a boozy fruit granita tops off your meal with class (and a bit of a buzz).
